Aspect Ratio and Resolution

Aspect ratio refers to the proportional relationship between an image's width and height. It determines the overall shape of the image.

16:9: This is the most common aspect ratio, often used in widescreen televisions and computer monitors. It provides a wider viewing experience. Typically & most commonly used on platforms such as: YouTube, Rumble, Vimeo. Not limited to other platforms however, it will show up as a long/wide screen, & not fitted screen.

9:16: Primarily used for mobile devices, this vertical format is ideal for portrait-oriented content. Typically & most commonly used on platforms such as: TikTok, YouTube Shorts. Not limited to other platforms, however, it is not their default recommended size format. 

1:1: A square aspect ratio, commonly used for social media profile pictures and square-format images. Typically & most commonly used on platforms such as: Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, & IG & FB Reels.

Resolution, measured in pixels, defines the image's sharpness and detail. Higher pixel counts result in clearer and more defined images. For instance, 1920x1080 pixels in a 16:9 format indicates the image has 1920 pixels across its width and 1080 pixels in height.
